Calista Garcia - Deep Blue Diving
This song crawled its way into my head this week and it's probably going to stay for a little longer. Calista Garcia sounds like a female Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes) so what's not to like.
Here's what Calista says about the song:
"I wrote "Deep Blue Diving" as an expression of radical optimism. Optimism, not because life is full of sunshine and rainbows, but rather in spite of how tough it can be. We can shake our fists at the sky and ask, “Why, why, why?” while still knowing on some level that everything happens for a reason. We can know that others may try to cut us down for trying to be free, and we can seek our personal freedom and happiness anyway. We can carry all the baggage of our wounds, see the way people have hurt each other again and again, since the very beginning. And we can still find people to love, to trust. We can let down all those walls we’ve built up, because we can still find someone to believe in. Life is duplicitous, but we are whole.
I am, and will always be, a dreamer. I wrote this when I was feeling very frustrated and angry about what I was seeing around me. But listening back, the song is almost relentlessly optimistic. I can’t help but see the best in the world. In people. It’s just how I am. My greatest wish is that this song helps you as a listener let go of your fears, and feel a little freer from your hangups."

The Wonderfool - Time (Done Being Late)
One of the songs that you hear for the first time and instantly fall in love with: the voice, the melody, the harmonies, the story. Utterly beautiful. It just had to be added to our songs that got us through the year playlist.
Matt Vinson, the guy behind The Wonderfool, says about this song:
"'Time' is an ode to every human that has shaped me into the person I am today - It's a celebration of friends, family & love. I hope the song & video reminds you to keep moving forward, though always reminiscing on loved ones and cherished memories from the past. In using my own clips I've taken throughout the years, this video makes me laugh and cry both tears of joy & sorrow."

Ada Lea - Hurt
A song about complicated emotions, the singer being left wounded and in pain. The song has got a great indie vibe and energy and at the end of the song the violin let's the listener feel the pain.
