We are continuing our journey to the 10th Anniversary lineup, and today’s announcement is one that makes me incredibly proud. It is a booking that was born - like so many Static Roots stories - in a sweaty club, witnessing a moment of pure musical magic.

A Memory from Krefeld (July 2022)
To explain why I am so excited about this booking, we have to go back to July 2022. I was at the Kulturrampe in Krefeld to see Daniel Romano’s Outfit. As expected, the band was on fire. But amidst the chaos and the rock 'n' roll energy, there was one person who kept drawing my eye.
Julianna Riolino was playing in the band, and she was an absolute force of nature. She didn't just play her parts; she radiated energy. Then, Daniel stepped back and let her take the lead for just one song.
In those few minutes, she didn't just perform - she stole the show.
The room shifted. The energy changed. I knew immediately I was watching a star. After the gig, I walked straight to the merch table. She had one item left: a cassette tape. Now, I don't even own a cassette player. But I bought it anyway. I just needed a physical memento to remind me of that night and the incredible talent I had just witnessed.
About Julianna Riolino
Since that night in Krefeld, the rest of the world has caught up to what we saw in that club. With her debut solo record All Blue (2022), the Toronto-based songwriter has cemented herself as a premier voice in the modern roots scene.
Her music is a dazzling blend of "cosmic country," 1970s warmth, and indie-rock grit. It sounds like the sun breaking through the clouds: golden, melodic, and beautiful. But underneath the catchy choruses, there is a sharp philosophical edge. She sings about morality, time, and the complexity of being human, all while making you want to dance.
