Can you believe it has been ten years? From our very first chord in 2016 to the 10th Anniversary edition in 2026, the Static Roots Festival has been a labor of love, fueled by a simple motto: roots music to feed your soul.
We’ve spent a decade curating line-ups that defy boundaries and expectations, turning the Zentrum Altenberg in Oberhausen into a sanctuary for high-quality Americana, Folk, and everything in between.
We are proud to be known as "the best little festival you can go to anywhere" - a place where the music is intimate, the atmosphere is friendly, and the memories last a lifetime.
This year, our slogan is "Chasing the shiver since 2016". It’s a tribute to every spine-tingling moment we’ve shared so far, and a promise of the magic to come.

The Zentrum Altenberg is one of the most extraordinary cultural venues in the Ruhr region - a former industrial zinc complex that carries both history and atmosphere in its walls. Once you've experienced a concert here, ordinary venues feel insufficient.
Oberhausen is easily reached by rail from across NRW and beyond. Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) is under 40 minutes away. Whether you're coming from Amsterdam (NL), Cologne, Essen, Dortmund, or flying in internationally, getting here is straightforward.
This is not a muddy field in the middle of nowhere. It's a city festival with an intimate soul - bars, restaurants, hotels all within walking distance. Come for the weekend. Make a trip of it.
