Waylon Payne - Shiver

In our 2020 "songs that got us through the year" playlist, we added Waylon Payne's wonderful song "Santa Ana Winds" and ordered his vinyl album "Blue Eyes, The Harlot, The Queer, The Pusher & Me". Somehow it took a while to realize what amazing quality there is on the record. "Shiver" is emotionally devastating, unbelievably intense.

Here we share Waylon Payne's solo acoustic performance and it's utterly brilliant. Song of the year?

Zeb Gould - A Body Ain't Nothing

This beautiful song came up while letting Spotify's AI shuffle through their library. It instantly reminded us of Neil Young, Green on Red, and The Hiders. Brilliant stuff.

Northern Transmissions about "A Body Ain't Nothing":

"Fans of CSNY will love “A Body Ain’t Nothing” as it has Neil Young worthy vocal harmonies, soft but savvy guitars and two beautiful voices that compliment each other wonderfully. The song brings a flash of nostalgia to the record as it dives back in time to the California folk rock scene of the 1960’s. While many songs on the album have a similar aesthetic, it’s the unobtrusive keyboard addition that makes this track that much more special."

Katy Kirby - Cool Dry Place

The other day I stumbled across Katy Kirby’s fantastic song „cool dry place“ just yesterday and can‘t stop listening. The album version bursts from intensity ❤️

This Audiotree recording is stripped back but then again we think it’s magical!
