Dutch trio Woolf added to the lineup of the Static Roots Festival 2023
The Static Roots Festival 2023 just got even more exciting with the addition of the Dutch trio Woolf to the lineup!
Woolf is a harmonious blend of three talented singer-songwriters, Marieke Smit, Mylène Berghs, and Ellen Tackenkamp, who met at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and have been making music together ever since. With their individual rough edges intact, these three musicians bring together a unique sound that combines echoes of legendary groups like Crosby, Stills & Nash with a modern twist reminiscent of The Staves.
The music of Woolf is inspired by everything from traditional music to modern sounds and tackles some of the more challenging themes of the human experience. In spring of 2020, Woolf released their versatile and well-received EP, produced by Paul Willemsen in Electric Monkey Studios in Amsterdam. The EP features Dutch musical greats, including drummer Mark Schilders, bassist Hugo Den Oudsten, guitarist Luuk Janssen, and multi-talent Maarten Hogenhuis, who also worked on several mixes for the EP.
Although the release tour for the EP was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the band made up for lost time in 2022 with a summer Garden Tour and supporting acts like The Delines and Frazey Ford, performing at some of the finest venues in the Netherlands, from De Oosterpoort to Patronaat and from TivoliVredenburg to Paradiso. With their warm harmonies and unique compositions, Woolf wowed audiences and left them in awe. The band is currently working on their next EP, set to be released in spring 2023.
In the words of one reviewer, "The audience holds its breath, everyone is listening intently, the quality of the music is excellent, and the stunning harmonies stand out like a pearl among pebbles."
Don't miss your chance to see Woolf bring their mesmerizing sound to the Static Roots Festival 2023!
